Intersection of Identity - working well with others in an intercultural workplace

Purpose: Enhance self-understanding and the ability to work well with others who are different. As we work with others who come from different backgrounds, have different perceptions, and understand different cultural languages, such differences can challenge collaboration.  By examining our personal backgrounds and where others come from, we strengthen the foundation for personal growth and effective collaboration.  Objectives:  Examine the thinking patterns that lead from assumption to response -- and the consequences. Explore the complexity and richness of identity for ourselves and for working well with others. Strengthen our understanding and enhance our camaraderie with others working at Berea College. Develop awareness and skills for working in a diverse Berea College workplace. Part 1 – (8:30 a.m. to Noon) - Foundations of identity Part 2 – (12:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.) - Exploring and learning from stories of identity Note - Part 2 builds from the rapport and concepts developed in Part 1, so it is expected that participants attend the full program. Target Audience: Anyone who works at Berea College  Lunch is included. Please let me know if you have any dietary restrictions.
