Introductory Birding

Bald Head Island offers fantastic opportunities for bird watching during all seasons. 244 different species have been documented on BHI as of October 2014. On this birding tour, you will learn the basics of bird identification in a welcoming environment for experts and novices alike. Locations are determined by tides, weather, and recent sightings. As we teach you various birdwatching techniques we will be looking for BHI’s favorite songbird the Painted Bunting (in summer months) and Bald Eagles (in winter months).  Binoculars and birding field guides will be provided for the trip. Meet in the Barrier Island Study Center.   Personal golf cart transportation is required.   ON-ISLAND PRICES: $25/person for Non-Members, $20/person for BHI Conservancy Members. OFF-ISLAND PRICES:  $45/person for Non-Members, $35/person for BHI Conservancy Members. (includes ferry ticket*) *Our staff member with your ferry ticket(s) will be waiting for your group between 7:45am-7:55am near the Deep Point Marina ticket window on the lower level. Parking will take time. The ferry departs at 8:00am sharp, if you miss the ferry you forfeit your spot(s) on the tour.  Become a BHI Conservancy Member today to receive discounted prices on programs!
