      Acting Out! returns for its third year welcoming incoming 4th – 6th grade students for the week of August 3 – 8!

      Join instructor Christina Farrell as she uses the classic acting principles develop the performance skills. Attendees can attend the morning session, afternoon session, or both!

      Morning Group: A course in acting focused on movement and scene work. Performance consists of 3-4 person scenes retelling and modernizing Aesop’s Fables.

      Afternoon Group: A course in acting focused on vocal work and character development. Performance consists of each student performing an original monologue for an original character.

      Christina Farrell is a teaching artist and performer who enjoys activating the artistry of people of all ages and backgrounds. She received her BFA in Vocal Performance from Carnegie Mellon University and her MA in Educational Theatre from New York University. As Founding Director of Opera Ignite, she has conducted classroom residencies, professional development for teachers and audience engagement workshops across the U.S., as well as India, Singapore and South Korea. She has performed with Revival Theatre Company, Washington National Opera, Baltimore’s Opera Vivente, Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, and at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as a Finalist with the National Symphony Orchestra’s Young Soloists’ Competition. Her diverse roles include Francesca in Bridges of Madison County, Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Lucy in The Telephone, and Nellie Forbush in South Pacific. Christina taught middle school music and drama for six years at St. Andrew’s UM Day School in Edgewater, MD and has served on the voice faculties of The Peabody Preparatory in Baltimore and of The Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C. She is formerly the Educational Director for Prime Stage Theatre, an organization that promotes literacy skills to reluctant adolescent readers through theater-based experiences.ENGLERT WAVELENGTH

      This workshop is part of Englert Wavelength: Deeper Learning Through the Arts, the Englert’s arts education series featuring workshops and learning opportunities for youth and adults. Englert Wavelength events are supported by Friends of the Englert.
