Sussex Bird Club | Sparrows Simplified: Making Sense of LBJs

This monthly meeting of the Sussex Bird Club features a presentation on sparrows. Many birders struggle with identifying sparrows, referring to them as LBJs (little brown jobs) or sparrow species. Mike Moore, University of Delaware Biology professor, will help you tackle this difficult group. He will discuss, and then attempt to blend, the two main approaches to identification, the Peterson System and the Cape May School. The goal is to lead you to sparrow identification confidence. Each of the 16 species of regularly occurring sparrows in Delaware will be compared and contrasted with some discussion of finding and identifying rarities.
The Sussex Bird Club and the Lewes Public Library are partnering on the community-wide initiative Lewes Loves Books, a One Book One Community program.
No registration is required and walk ins are welcome.
