NAACP LANCASTER FREEDOM FUND GALA RECEPTION

We invite you to attend and sponsor our Freedom Fund Gala Reception on Thursday, October 24, 2019, in the Lehr Dining Room, Gordinier Hall, 40 James Street, Millersville, PA. The reception begins at 6:00pm, and the program at 7:00pm. We would be honored if you could attend.  This year’s keynote speaker is the Honorable John Fetterman, Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The NAACP, a national recognized 501 (c) 3 organization, was founded on February 12, 1909 by a culturally diverse group, including Ida B. Wells and W. E. B. du Bois. The NAACP is the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization.  The operation of our local organization is comprised completely of volunteers who dedicate their time and resources to the vision of liberty, justice, and equality for all people. But we need additional donors like you to be able to continue to operate. But we need additional donors like you to be able to continue to operate. We sponsor community activities and address community concerns through organized forums. We provide opportunities for people to share their ideas and concerns with their elected officials.  We focus attention on economic development: jobs, education, criminal justice, youth engagement and empowerment. Additionally, we help mobilize the community on specific issues. In June and again in September, we provided a forum where citizens learned about Pennsylvania’s process for pardons and expungements. With the School District of Lancaster, Lancaster City Bureau of Police, and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, we co-sponsored a preparatory course for the police office application process in August, 2019. We work with the Bureau of Police on diverse recruitment strategies, and with county school districts, that face inclusion challenges, on improving student, administration and staff relationships. On November 8 and 9, our second annual Economic Summit will focus on resources for entrepreneurs. Your sponsorship and participation will be greatly appreciated and will assist us as we work for our Lancaster community.  The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.
