Native American College Resources: A Crash Course On Change

In light of the current public health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, Southern California Public Radio (KPCC + LAist) has decided to cancel this event and suspend all other in-person events through April 1. Updates on the University of Redlands’ daylong powwow celebration can be found here. Sign up for our KPCC In Person newsletter to receive updates about upcoming events. Native American student populations have historically been underrepresented on college campuses, a consequence of centuries of displacement, injustice, and genocide, among other factors. Outreach is crucial in efforts to increase Native American enrollment and graduation rates. On March 28, KPCC higher education reporter Adolfo Guzman-Lopez leads a conversation exploring the roadblocks students face as well as the innovative programs and advancements taking place right here in Southern California. Native American tribes are providing the funding for some of the efforts to improve education for students at colleges and universities. The discussion will be held during the University of Redlands’ daylong powwow celebration, and we’ll be talking with students, educators, and community leaders. The powwow will feature hundreds of singers, dancers, as well as craft and food vendors from across the United States and Canada. General Admission - $0.00

      Cost: 0.00
